Pictured is my fiancé and his son from July 4, 2011. We were hanging out with friends, barbecuing, playing card and board games and making homemade ice cream before heading out to see the fireworks.
My fiancé called over to his son, “hey, Tristan! Come over here!”
My fiancé had gotten his first smart phone with a front facing camera. They proceeded to take a series of goofy looking pictures. While this revelry was occurring I took out my camera and started taking pictures of them.

This is one of my most treasured pictures of them. What it captured was their happiness of being together.
My fiancé’s son lives 2,300 miles from him. During the Summer months, he lives with us for 8 weeks. For 44 weeks out of the year, they are in a long distance relationship.
When this kid is reunited with his dad, his face lights up.
When this dad is reunited with his son, his face lights up.
We are constantly counting down the days until these two are brought together, in person, once more.
